First update from Bangkok

First instalment as promised!

We landed in Bangkok at 8am yesterday and navigated the train lines to the little Guesthouse we are staying at. The busy streets are filled with street food and fearless streams of motorbikes.

The owner, Joy, at our hostel (U-baan Guesthouse – found on HostelWorld) is very helpful and the dorm room has everything we need.

We spent part of the day exploring the food markets and enjoying some street food, we went to Terminal 21 shopping mall which has a floor dedicated to street food style outlets as well as a wide variety of shops.

The above meal was 42 Baht (less than £1)

We also experienced the medical facilities of Bangkok after a slight incident with Liv (she is okay now!). Thankfully, kind people, travel insurance and an easy to navigate city, meant getting the little one back to our hostel safely, was smooth enough.

We had a long nights rest following all our draining travels and, today, headed to Khao San road, which is where the backpacking culture of Thailand began. We spotted an amusing sign, maybe some honesty that should be repeated back in the UK…

We enjoyed local Pad Thai for just 50p! We also saw outside a few of the beautiful temples, Buddha statues and beautiful scenery, whilst avoiding tuck-tuck drivers trying to offer us tours.

Now back at the hostel I’m writing to you from our air conditioned dorm room. Current status: still lacking any sort of tan.
